Gage's Fingers and Feet

This is Gage's left hand. You can see that the last 2 fingers are considerably smaller than the rest!

This is Gage's right hand. His middle finder is a nub, which will most likely be removed in the near future! The rest of his fingers are mostly smaller than they should be! His thumb on the right side has no nail and is small.

I promised a long time ago that I would post pictures of Gage's fingers and feet so you can see what I am talking about when I talk about his fingers and or legs! I want to make people more aware of what he was born with! Gage was born with what is called Amniotic Band Syndrome! It is a freak thing that happens in the mother's womb while the baby is floating around! The womb is made up of fibrous bands that come together. Sometimes those bands break off and can get tangled around body parts! That is exactly what happened to Gage! I hope these pictures help you see exactly what has happened to Gage! He is still cute as a button and we love him no matter what! It could have been so much worse than what it is! He is our miracle!

The above picture you can see how his toes are short and his big toe nails are not there.

You can see in the above picture, the ring around the tops of his ankles! That is where the doctors at the Shriner's Hospital told us that he could have been born with out feet if the band would have fused together!

This one you can see a little bit of his fingers! The tip of his middle finger is very small and tight! He may eventually loose the tips of some of his fingers!

aww those pics are so cute! I love the rolls too:) His feet are too cute! I have a friend who is pregnant and had her u/s a couple of months ago to find that her girl has the same thing except it's worse in that she is missing her right forearm. You can definetly be thankful that it could have been much worse! Although every baby is a perfect blessings no matter what!:)

Thanks for sharing his story and the pictures--he's lucky to have such loving parents and I'm thankful that it isn't worse, as it sounds like it could have been! He's special--and I'm sure he knows that :).
