2 Months Old! WOW!!!

Cute little BOY!!!

SOOO BIG!!!!!
Today Gage is 2 months old! I can't believe it! Time flies by so fast! He is so big! Most babies go for their 2 month check up but because of his complications his doctors like to check up on him more often so he had a check up 2 weeks ago!! He got his shots! He got 4 or 5 pokes ( I can't remember) and then 1 oral vac. He was so brave. As soon as the nurse poked him the first time he started screaming and his faced turned BRIGHT red!!! But as soon as she was done with the pokes his was done crying! Later that night I did give him some Tylenol because he was really fussy and you could just tell his chubby little legs were hurting him! After the Tylenol he was great!!

2 Month Old Stats:

~2 weeks ago he weighed 13 lbs and 2 ounces!! (I am almost positive he weighs more now!)

~He was 22 and 3/4 inches long!!

~He wears a 3-6 month now!

~I have officially packed away all of his newborn clothes and most of his 0-3 clothes!

~He wears a size 1 now! Just yesterday I had to pack up all of his 0 size shoes!

~He wears a 1-2 diaper!! He is almost busting out the side of those but I have a few more for him to wear and then he will be wearing a 2!!

~He eats 6 ounces EVERY 3 hours! He is like a stop watch!!! He NEVER misses a meal.

~Just this week we started him on a mini schedule! He gets a bath and a cereal bottle around 9 and his is usally out by 9:30!!!

~Since we started the bedtime ritual he has been sleeping from 9:30-5:45ish! Then he is up for a bottle and quickly back to bed! He will usually sleep for me until about 9ish after that first morning bottle.

~He does NOT roll over yet but we have been practicing! (he doesn't like to practice!!)

~He loves to lay under his play mat and listen to the music and play with the toys that dangle down!

~He grabbed his toy the other day with his hand that has the 2 small finguers and I was so PROUD!!!

~He loves to smile!

~He plays with his tongue and blows lots of bubbles!!

~He poops 1-2 times a day!!! (Which is a huge step for him!!)

I will have pictures later... my sister gave me back my camera but forgot to give me back the charger so the battery is dead!!!

My First Post!!!

BABY GAGE!!!
DADDY'S BOY
FIRST FAMILY PHOTO
FIRST RIDE HOME!!

I have been reading my friends' blogs for about four months now but I haven't set up my own until now! I am really excited to start this whole blog thing!!!

I will give you a quick run down of what has been going on in the McCann family for the past 2 months. Baby Gage Charles McCann was born on May 31, 2008! He weighed 8lbs. 10ozs. and was 21 inches long! I could not believe that I had an 8 pound baby! He is so beautiful!

We did have a surprise when Gage was born. He was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome! Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) also called Amniotic Constriction Band Syndrome is a set of congenital birth defects believed to be caused by entrapment of fetal parts (usually a limb or digits) in fibrous amniotic bands while in utero. In other words: Before the baby was born the body part(s) that was affected by ABS (arm, fingers, toes, etc.,) was caught up and entangled in string-like bands. This caused abnormalities that were present at birth . We are so fortunate that it only affected his fingers and big toes. Some babies are not as lucky! ABS can cause babies to loose whole limbs. We are so fortunate to have this little miracle! We know that God does not make mistakes and he has blessed us with a BEAUTIFUL baby boy!!!

We recently went to UofM hospital to speak with a plastic surgeon! Dr. Chung, was awesome. He assured us that Gage would grow up to do all of the things that all of the other kids do. He will just help him do those things a little easier. The Doc. wants us to watch his fingers, especially the nub, to make sure the blood is still circulating and then we have another apt. in three months. They also took pictures to see if there is any growth in the figures when we go back. I was really encouraged by our visit! I knew from the moment he was born that he was going to be OK but it was nice to hear it from a plastic surgeon that deal with ABS on a regular basis!!!

OK. So not only did I have a baby but my sister also had her baby! Baby Ava was born on July 22. Weighing in at 10lbs. 11ozs. and 21 inches long! She is my little DUMPLIN girl! I love being an Auntie and I can't wait for our two children to grow up together!!
